Now it can’t just be me that associates merry Christmas with piano music? Think about all your classic favourites for the holidays such as silent night, have yourself a merry little Christmas, jingle bells, o holy night and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas to name just a few! Piano music is so lovely to listen to as you cozy up by the fire with a warm beverage and decorate your Christmas tree. How else can you incorporate piano music into your Christmas holidays? Read below to find out!

Enjoy it as a family

We love spending time with our families here at PianoCommuters! One of our favourites is pulling out sheet music and playing the piano for the whole family to enjoy. There’s lots of easy piano Christmas music that you can find on the internet or ask your piano teacher for some at your next lesson. This can be a great time to gather as a family with mugs full of hot chocolate and enjoy the piano music together. You can play your favourite Christmas song for your family or put on a concert with a variety of songs through merry Christmas piano music! The possibilities are endless, just enjoy the time together as a family.

Play for company

Do you have company coming over for the holidays? This is a great time to bring out some piano sheet music and play a couple of songs to entertain your company! As I mentioned above you can find lots of Christmas piano tutorials for free online with each to follow notes and chords if you don’t have any piano music in your house. It’s so wonderful to have a Christmas melody playing as people are coming into your space and get settled for the holidays. This might be the first time you are showing them your skills, or you might be experienced in playing for company. Either way, have fun with it, and don’t be worried if some relatives or friends are so proud, that they take a video of you!

Learn a new skill

Are you someone who wants to learn the piano but hasn’t yet? Well, the holidays are a great time – we have a new set of sign-ups for January lessons so act quickly before they fill. Just head over on our website to our lessons section to get started today! Even if you are an experienced piano player the holidays are a great time to expand your song selection and maybe challenge yourself to play something you haven’t before! Typically, around this time of year we’ve got some time off work, and from school – so use that time to engage with the piano to continue growing and learning new skills while also reaping the benefits of learning the piano.

Play on Christmas day

Christmas morning is so exciting – you wake up and are ready to spend the day celebrating with family, and possibly friends! You gather around the tree and share in Christmas traditions you’ve made over the years. A new one you can introduce, or one that already might be an annual occurrence is playing Christmas music on Christmas day on your piano! Some of our favourite merry Christmas piano numbers include – we wish you a merry Christmas piano, jingle bells, the 12 days of Christmas and silent night! You can hop on youtube and find an easy piano tutorial if you need a quick refresher on how to play those pieces on the piano.

From all of us here at PianoCommuters we wish you and your family and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We can’t wait to help you, and/or your child help enhance piano skills in 2022!
